Hodeidah: The Office of Economy, Industry and Investment in Hodeidah Governorate, in cooperation with the local authority, has initiated a monitoring campaign across markets in anticipation of the Ramadan month. The campaign aims to regulate prices and ensure the availability of essential commodities during this period.
According to Yemen News Agency, the director of the office, Saleh Mohammed, emphasized the importance of heightened control due to increased commercial activities at this time. He highlighted the development of structured plans to oversee markets, bakeries, and consumer complexes. The goal is to prevent monopolistic practices and commercial fraud, as well as to regulate prices.
The campaign is set to continue until the end of Ramadan, aligning with the ministry’s directives for consumer protection. Legal measures will be taken against those who violate regulations. On the inaugural day of the campaign, violations were recorded in 15 shops for price hikes, lack of advertising, and selling expired products.
Saleh Mohammed urged traders to collaborate with field committees to ensure the success of the campaign. The office, with the involvement of local officials, is leading the initiative to maintain market stability and consumer rights during the Ramadan season.
