Hodeidah: Hodeidah Governor Abdullah Atifi today visited five parks that have been restored, rehabilitated, and equipped as safe areas in the Al-Hali District's 7th of July residential city, as part of a project implemented in cooperation between the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor and the international organization Handicap International.
According to Yemen News Agency, the governor, accompanied by several local officials, received a briefing from project managers on the rehabilitation works. These works included comprehensive maintenance of the parks' infrastructure, repair of seating and walkways, landscaping and planting of green areas, and the creation of ramps and pathways suited to the needs of persons with disabilities.
The project also involved installing comfortable benches and shaded areas, and providing play equipment designed for various age groups, creating inclusive recreational environments for all. Governor Atifi was informed about the preparation of Al-Shaab Park with various playground equipment catering to the needs of the community, including persons with disabilities and their caregivers.
Atifi described the project as an important step in providing safe recreational environments and in supporting efforts to enhance the urban landscape of the governorate. He noted that the rehabilitation of parks contributes to improving quality of life and providing public spaces for the residents of Hodeidah.
The governor stressed that the local authority supports projects that strengthen public service infrastructure and provide appropriate settings for community activities in line with sustainable local development objectives. He praised the efforts of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, Handicap International, and local partners in completing the project.
Additionally, the governor reviewed rehabilitation and care programs provided for residents of the Social Guidance Home for Juvenile Care. During his visit to the facility, he was briefed on the types of cases the home receives, judicial procedures, and vocational training programs in mawaz making and economic empowerment initiatives.
Atifi emphasized that caring for the residents of the Social Guidance Home is a priority within the local authority's plans, noting the importance of providing a supportive environment and practical skills. He highlighted the importance of developing and expanding training and rehabilitation programs and affirmed the local authority's readiness to provide support in coordination with relevant bodies and community organizations.
