Hodeidah: As the 1447 AH summer courses approach their conclusion, Hodeidah Governorate crowns a journey filled with dedication and accomplishments for a generation armed with knowledge, faith, and awareness. The outcomes of the courses reflected the strength of the faith identity and the pride of national belonging, helping shape a confident generation capable of carrying the banner of construction and victory.
According to Yemen News Agency, this year's summer courses witnessed remarkable attendance and broad community engagement, reflected in the enrollment of 186,868 male and female students in open, model, and scout summer centers distributed across 1,632 schools and centers under the supervision of thousands of educational and administrative staff members. The open summer courses recorded the participation of 154,242 students, including 79,381 boys and 74,861 girls, across 1,369 schools supervised by 7,827 workers, while the model courses attracted 29,602 students in 232 model schools. Scout courses also hosted 3,024 students in 31 scout schools through programs focused on developing leadership skills, discipline, teamwork, and various physical and scouting activities.
Qur'an memorization and religious sciences topped the agenda of the courses through memorization, recitation, and Tajweed circles, as well as lessons on interpretation, the Prophet's biography, and faith culture. The centers prioritized teaching the Holy Qur'an and instilling faith-based principles and values among children and youth as a guarantee for the future. These activities contributed to strengthening the students' faith identity and connecting them to the Qur'anic cultural approach that promotes dignity, pride, attachment to the symbols and sanctities of the nation.
Cultural activities also provided broad opportunities to develop students' intellectual and creative abilities through seminars, lectures, literary and intellectual competitions, awareness programs addressing issues facing the nation, and the importance of knowledge and building conscious personalities. The summer centers also organized various events highlighting the greatness of the Holy Qur'an and the importance of adhering to it, as well as commemorative activities related to the 'Sarkha' slogan within cultural and awareness programs, amid significant interaction from students and educational staff.
Visits to the exhibition dedicated to the martyr leader Sayyed Hussein Bader al-Din Al-Houthi in Hodeidah city received wide interest from students, who learned about stages of the Qur'anic project and the path of struggle aimed at awakening the nation's awareness. Students also listened to explanations about steadfastness and resilience, drawing lessons of sacrifice and courage in defending just causes. Summer activities further extended to sports and scouting programs through scout performances, marches, and sports tournaments that enhanced discipline, cooperation, teamwork, and students' physical and leadership abilities.
On the technological side, the summer courses kept pace with modern developments by incorporating activities on digital awareness and cybersecurity to protect youth from intellectual digital invasion and soft warfare, while equipping them with skills for the proper use of modern technology. Agricultural activities also received notable attention through tree-planting initiatives, farming programs, and awareness campaigns encouraging agricultural expansion, productivity, and self-sufficiency as part of economic resilience efforts.
Tourism and recreational trips formed an important part of the programs, with visits organized to tourist attractions, coastal areas, parks, and historical landmarks as part of educational and recreational activities aimed at supporting students' psychological and social development. The summer centers also received continuous visits from local authority leaders, educational officials, social figures to review the activities, provide support, encouragement to students, staff, reflecting the scale of official and community interest in the courses.
These visits underscored the importance of the summer courses as educational and cultural incubators that contribute to raising awareness, developing youth capacities, and strengthening their connection to religious, national, and faith-based values. In this context, Hodeidah Governor Abdullah Atefi stated that the distinguished outcomes of this year's summer courses reflected the result of the support and close follow-up by the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council, emphasizing that building and educating generations is the cornerstone of Yemen's future and dignity.
He praised the unprecedented turnout at the governorate's centers, describing it as evidence of the awareness of the people of Tihama and their deep attachment to their faith identity. He considered the success a strong response to attempts targeting the minds of youth and proof of continuing the path of knowledge and development alongside steadfastness and struggle. Governor Atefi also commended the sincere efforts of educational staff and field workers who transformed the summer schools into beacons of knowledge and awareness, contributing to building a faith-based and cultural strength capable of confronting challenges and defending the homeland and the nation's sanctities.
For his part, First Deputy Governor of Hodeidah and Head of the Subcommittee for Summer Courses Ahmed Al-Bishri stated that this year's courses achieved broad success through high turnout and the integrated organization of activities across the centers, reflecting the efforts exerted by educational and supervisory staff. He noted that the programs focused primarily on the Holy Qur'an alongside cultural, skill-based, sports, and technological activities, contributing to the development of students' capabilities and awareness regarding the issues of their society and nation.
Al-Bishri added that the subcommittee worked to provide a comprehensive educational environment within the summer centers to ensure students fully benefited from the programs, affirming that the achieved results reflect the success of this educational project in meeting its awareness and qualification objectives.
