Hodeidah: The office of the General Zakat Authority in Hodeidah governorate organized an awareness meeting aimed at poets and chanters to enhance community awareness regarding the importance of zakat. The initiative seeks to urge individuals obligated to pay zakat to deliver it to the Zakat Authority and its branches, thereby expanding social solidarity and supporting those eligible for aid.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting was attended by key figures including the assistant deputy for awareness and communication at the authority, Ali Al Dharafi, the director of community partnership, Ali Al Sarihi, and the director of studies, Ahmed Al Ghadra. Mohammed Al Mowshki, the director of media and awareness at the Zakat Authority, emphasized the meeting's significance in strengthening partnerships with poets and chanters. He highlighted their influential role in shaping community awareness through purposeful words and messages.
Al Mowshki noted that poets and chanters have historically contributed to national awareness and resilience, particularly during periods of aggression. He acknowledged Hodeidah governorate's resilience in overcoming challenges, attributing this success to the cohesion among its people and various societal segments.
The meeting is considered an important step towards deepening cooperation between the Zakat Authority and creative figures, enhancing institutional and community awareness about the importance of zakat. Al Mowshki also reviewed several projects and programs executed by the Zakat Authority in 2026, with a total expenditure of 1 billion and 696 million Yemeni riyals, covering humanitarian, social, and developmental fields.
Jalal Al Mahwaiti, the deputy director of the Tourism and Culture Office in the governorate, praised the role of poets and chanters in reinforcing community awareness. He commended their efforts in promoting religious and national values and in encouraging the community to deliver zakat to the appropriate authorities.
The meeting featured poetic and chanting performances that underscored the importance of the awareness message and the power of words in addressing community issues.
