Human Rights Authority Denounces Killing of Yemeni POWs in Dhubab

Dhubab:The National Human Rights Authority has strongly condemned the killing of several Yemeni armed forces prisoners of war by Saudi forces on the outskirts of Dhubab District, Taiz Governorate. These prisoners were reportedly shot and run over by armored vehicles.

According to Yemen News Agency, the authority described the killings as a war crime and a grave violation of the 1949 Third Geneva Convention, particularly referencing Articles 13 and 120. These articles mandate the humane treatment of prisoners of war and prohibit any reprisals against them.

The statement emphasized that the deliberate killing of POWs constitutes a war crime under Article 8(2)(a)(i) of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

The National Human Rights Authority has held Saudi forces fully responsible for the incident and has called on the United Nations, the UN envoy, and the International Committee of the Red Cross to document the crime and refer it to the International Criminal Court.
