Sana'a: The Chair of the National Human Rights Commission, Ali Taysir, met with the Country Director of Handicap International, Reshma Azami, to discuss strengthening cooperation in areas concerning human rights, specifically focusing on the rights of persons with disabilities, children, and landmine victims.
According to Yemen News Agency, during the meeting, Taysir acknowledged the significant humanitarian efforts of Handicap International in countries impacted by aggression. He noted the organization's influential role in humanitarian and relief work. He stated that the National Human Rights Commission is tasked with overseeing human rights issues in Yemen, particularly concerning the rights of persons with disabilities, children, and landmine victims, in collaboration with relevant authorities.
Taysir emphasized that the Commission is involved in preparing specialized national reports in the humanitarian field and is committed to enhancing human rights mechanisms locally and internationally. He pointed out that Yemen is one of the countries severely affected by multinational aggression led by the 'Israeli-American' enemy, which has escalated violations and increased the number of disability victims. He stressed the significance of reports from the Change and Construction Government that document these violations and suggest measures for resolution.
Reshma Azami expressed her satisfaction with the ongoing partnership between the organizations, underscoring the importance Handicap International places on advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities. She stated that the organization will continue its advocacy and defense efforts, integrating a dedicated focus on disability rights into its future plans and strategies in Yemen.
