Ibb Launches Economic Empowerment Programs to Boost Agricultural Sector

Ibb: A meeting in Ibb province, chaired by governor Abdulwahid Salah, focused on initiating economic empowerment programs aimed at building capacity and providing resources to targeted groups. The meeting, attended by military and civilian officials, discussed activating and establishing cooperative societies, completing stalled agricultural projects, and implementing economic empowerment initiatives.

According to Yemen News Agency, key decisions made during the meeting included allocating 5% of province resources to support agricultural initiatives and providing land for a fuel station to create a strategic oil reserve for the agricultural sector. The meeting also emphasized establishing an agricultural research station, activating agricultural college graduates in regional agricultural projects, and conducting an inventory of agricultural equipment and machinery.

Further initiatives discussed involved establishing a seed bank for grain crops, furnishing and equipping agricultural offices, and setting up nurseries and a plant pest protection center. The meeting underscored the importance of providing agricultural supplies and veterinary clinics, following up on market and fish point projects, and resuming stalled agricultural projects. Additionally, it focused on initiating economic empowerment projects with various authorities, correcting the legal status of cooperative associations, conducting a livestock field survey, and intensifying training programs for development champions.

Governor Salah highlighted the importance of supporting small projects and empowering citizens economically, emphasizing the state’s commitment to improving living conditions. He urged relevant authorities to prioritize economic empowerment projects in sustainable development and stimulate productive families with interest-free loans, particularly in agriculture.
