Sanaa: A broad meeting of scholars, preachers, and religious guides in Ibb governorate discussed on Monday ways to strengthen social unity, unify religious discourse, and enhance public awareness in addressing current challenges during a gathering chaired by governor Abdulwahid Salah.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, attended by Chief Prosecutor Judge Abdulrahman al-Nuzaili, scholar Dr. Mohammed al-Mahdi, and a number of prominent scholars, preachers, and religious guides from across the governorate, reviewed the role of religious leaders in promoting a unified religious and media message and reinforcing social cohesion and internal stability.

Participants discussed the importance of protecting society from misinformation campaigns, ideological targeting, and what speakers described as the dangers of 'soft warfare,' while emphasizing the need to strengthen public awareness and resilience.

The gathering also addressed ways to integrate official and community efforts in confronting psychological and media warfare, promoting the values of unity and brotherhood, and directing public discourse toward supporting societal steadfastness in the face of ongoing challenges.

Speaking at the event, Governor Salah described the governorate's scholars and preachers as a safeguard for society because of their educational and guidance roles in strengthening social cohesion during different circumstances and stages.

He praised their religious and national contributions in countering attempts to undermine public awareness and for their efforts to guide religious discourse in ways that support unity, preserve the social fabric, and contribute to stability while protecting society intellectually and culturally.

Salah said the current phase requires intensified efforts to deepen public awareness and unify religious messaging amid what he described as attempts by external powers and their local allies to target the internal front and divide society.

He stressed the importance of scholars and preachers playing an active role in guiding public opinion, promoting moral and religious values, and protecting the social fabric from distortion and external influence.

The governor also called for greater coordination between official institutions and religious bodies, urging the expansion of awareness programs, guidance activities, and educational forums to strengthen public understanding of the challenges facing Yemen and the wider region.

Several speakers at the meeting underscored the importance of coordinating efforts, maintaining unity, and protecting society from misinformation campaigns and other forms of targeting. They emphasized the role of scholars and preachers in spreading the values of solidarity, moderation, and awareness while reinforcing societal resilience.

Participants concluded by stressing the need for continued coordination between religious leaders and relevant institutions to ensure a unified guidance and awareness message aimed at protecting society, strengthening national solidarity, and preserving social cohesion.
