Germany: Ibb University launched on Tuesday its first scientific conference on research and innovation in computing and applied sciences under the slogan 'Towards a Research Platform for Knowledge Exchange and Building the Digital Future.'
According to Yemen News Agency, the three-day conference gathers 200 male and female researchers specializing in computing, information technology, and artificial intelligence. University President Dr. Nasr Al-Hajili, speaking at the opening session, emphasized the importance of advancing scientific research and innovation in computer science and information technology to support development and address societal needs.
Dr. Al-Hajili urged relevant institutions and the private sector to back research and technology projects, transforming student graduation projects and innovations into practical applications that serve sectors such as education, healthcare, tourism, administration, finance, and business. He noted the university's efforts to enhance its academic and research environment with updated programs in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and software engineering, aligning with academic quality standards and labor market needs.
The conference, he added, highlights the university's commitment to building scientific and research partnerships capable of producing innovative digital solutions to developmental challenges. Dr. Al-Hajili stressed that investing in young minds and research talent is crucial for shaping the future.
Dr. Munir Al-Sarouri, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Applied Sciences and conference chairman, stated that the conference sessions would showcase the latest research in computing, information technology, and artificial intelligence. The discussions aim to align scientific research outputs with institutional and national needs.
During the first scientific session, researchers presented papers on artificial intelligence, including its future prospects, cybersecurity challenges, and applications in the medical and healthcare sectors. The university also recognized projects such as the 'Tam Platform - Interactive Academic System,' the 'Global Quran Recitation Center,' and the 'ITverse' for their excellence and technological innovations.
The session concluded with the university honoring several outstanding graduation projects, including the first-place project 'Your Smart Shopping Agent,' along with initiatives focused on AI-generated exam questions, a university learning management platform, a virtual science laboratory, and mobile-phone Musnad script recognition.
