Al-dhalea: Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources Dr. Radwan Al-Rubaie, alongside Acting Governor of Al-Dhalea Abdul Latif Al-Shughadri, inaugurated 23 agricultural and fisheries projects in the governorate. The projects have a total value of 598,300,631 Yemeni riyals.
According to Yemen News Agency, the projects were funded by the local authority through the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit, in coordination with the agricultural sector. The inauguration was attended by Deputy Governor Sadiq Al-Idrisi and Assistant Commander of the Fourth Military Region Brig. Gen. Mohammed Al-Khaled. The projects cover key sectors such as institutional and social development, marketing and services, and the development of livestock and crops.
Minister Al-Rubaie stated that these endeavors align with directives from the revolutionary leader Abdul-Malik Badr Al-Din Al-Houthi and the Supreme Political Council. The projects are part of the Transformation and Development Government's agenda to enhance agricultural growth and boost food security in the governorate. He stressed the importance of prioritizing agricultural projects, alongside livestock, crops, services, and water resource development.
Al-Rubaie confirmed that Al-Dhalea will be prioritized this year in initiatives to replace imported products with locally produced ones. He highlighted the potential for the governorate to produce legumes and other crops that could serve local agro-industrial supply chains. He also noted that factory owners and investors have shown interest in absorbing local production and urged farmers to focus on enhancing the competitiveness of local products.
Acting Governor Al-Shughadri announced 1447 AH (2025) as the 'Year of Agricultural Development' in coordination with agricultural cooperatives. He highlighted the governorate's previous community-driven efforts in building dams and water barriers.
Nabil Al-Muraqab, Head of the Agricultural Sector and Executive Unit, reviewed ongoing projects in various districts in partnership with the Agricultural Sector. These include the expansion of wheat, maize, and legume cultivation, with feasibility studies underway. He praised the support and coordination among the local authority, the Supreme Agricultural and Fisheries Committee, and the Ministry of Agriculture for successfully launching these projects.
