Hodeida: Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms strongly condemned on Tuesday the crimes committed by US forces against civilians in Hodeida provinces and other provinces in Yemen.
According to Yemen News Agency, the organization noted that US warplanes targeted the Amin Muqbil residential neighborhood in al-Hawak district in Hodeida province. This attack resulted in the deaths of four people and the wounding of 15 others, including women and children, based on a preliminary toll. Additionally, the assault led to the destruction of homes and civilian facilities.
The organization reported that the US forces launched raids targeting the communications network in Amran province, completely destroying it. Other raids occurred in Sana'a province, causing destruction of property and endangering the lives of civilians.
The statement from the organization explained that these actions constitute a violation of international laws and conventions. It referenced agreements related to the protection of civilians in times of war, notably Additional Protocol I (1977) to the Geneva Conventions of 1949, which prohibits indiscriminate attacks. It also mentioned the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Fourth Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, both of which protect civilians and civilian facilities from military attacks.
The organization called on the international community to take immediate action to end these violations. It emphasized the necessity for urgent international intervention to pressure the United States to cease these ongoing attacks, citing concerns that such practices threaten international peace and security.
