Sanaa: Yasser Sharafuddin, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor for Care and Services, conducted an inspection of the Al-Azraqin displacement camp in the capital city of Sanaa to assess the prevailing conditions faced by the inhabitants.
According to Yemen News Agency, the visit included Agim Berqua, Shelter Cluster Coordinator and Camp Management Coordinator at the General Commission for Refugees. During the visit, Undersecretary Sharafuddin engaged with displaced persons who highlighted their urgent needs, which include access to education, healthcare, clean drinking water, and adequate shelter. This inspection occurs in the context of a halt in essential aid and grants from international organizations, affecting the camp's 800 residents, among whom are 544 children.
Sharafuddin underscored the critical need for a collaborative effort by official authorities, the private sector, civil society organizations, and charitable associations to ensure the provision of basic services to all displacement camps. There are over 1,200 camps in the region, providing refuge to at least one million displaced persons.
He pointed out that meeting the needs of the displaced population, facilitating their integration into society, and organizing their resettlement in their original villages and governorates is a shared responsibility that demands serious and coordinated action.
