Sana'a: The head of the Social Affairs Committee - Vice Chairman of the Development Team in the capital Sana'a, Hammoud Al-Naqib, today inspected the progress of work and the level of performance in the National Program for Productive Families and Community Development.
According to Yemen News Agency, Al-Naqib was accompanied by the two undersecretaries of the capital Sana'a for the Financial Sector, Mazen Numan, and the Agriculture Sector, Mohammed Saree, as well as the director of the Social Affairs and Labor Office in the Secretariat, Nasser Al-Kahli. The delegation also included the head of the Cooperative Union for Textiles, Clothing, and Productive Families, Mohammed Humaid, and the head of the General Syndicate of Clothing and Fabric Merchants, Yaqoub Al-Maqbali, along with his deputy Hamdan Al-Dubai. The team toured various departments including sewing, tailoring, and production.
During the visit, the delegation assessed the equipment, machinery, production materials, and work being conducted by productive families in the production of clothing and local industries. They also evaluated the quality of products and other activities, the operational mechanisms of the program, and its role in training and qualifying impoverished families.
The program director, Yahya Qutaynah, provided an explanation on the tasks and operations of the National Program for Productive Families and Community Development. He discussed the stages and volume of local production in the sewing, tailoring, and handicrafts departments, as well as the challenges that the program faces.
Al-Naqib emphasized that the visit was aimed at reviewing the conditions and equipment of production workshops in Sana'a's districts, understanding their needs and operational capacities, and working to support and enhance their activities. He stressed the importance of encouraging productive families to boost their productivity and expand their development projects.
Furthermore, Al-Naqib highlighted that this initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen partnerships between Sana'a and the private sector. The goal is to successfully implement the project for localizing industries within the Secretariat, support productive families, and promote economic empowerment and sustainable development, ultimately working toward self-sufficiency.
Undersecretary Numan remarked that the visit marked the launch of a joint field program targeting both public and private production workshops. The Al-Safia District was chosen as a model for this initiative.
