Sana'a: The Intisaf Organization for Women's and Children's Rights has called for an international investigation and the initiation of criminal accountability against the leaders of the US-Saudi-Emirati coalition, members of the Islah Party, and anyone proven to be involved in the execution of prisoner Issa Al-Afiri.
According to Yemen News Agency, this appeal came during a visit by a human rights team from the organization, headed by Somaya Al-Taifi, to the prisoner's family in the capital, Sana'a, to offer condolences to his sister, Amani Al-Afiri. Al-Taifi explained that elements affiliated with the Islah Party, operating under the coalition's leadership, executed Al-Afiri after fabricating false charges and conducting an illegal, sham trial, highlighting the extreme criminality and brutality exercised by these elements.
She pointed out that the crime is part of a continuing series of killings, beatings, and torture inflicted on detainees and prisoners by militias allied with the coalition. The team also listened to the suffering of the Al-Afiri family and the injustices they endured, which included the death of their mother, Hadiya Sultan, crushed by military vehicles belonging to Islah Party elements, and the killing of her two sons by coalition weaponry in Taiz Governorate.
Al-Taifi confirmed that the organization is preparing a special human rights report documenting the life of the entire family and their suffering at the hands of the coalition mercenaries, following their resistance against oppression and tyranny.
