Iran: The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) and head of the Iranian negotiating delegation, Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf, affirmed that his country is following up on the implementation of the terms of the memorandum of understanding, stressing the necessity for America to honor its commitments under the memorandum.
According to Yemen News Agency, Ghalibaf met this afternoon with the Chief of the Pakistani Army, General Asim Munir, within the framework of Pakistan's efforts to help promote peace and security in the region. During the meeting, Ghalibaf reviewed numerous instances of the United States breaching its commitments in implementing the Islamabad memorandum of understanding, pointing out that the obligations of both parties in the memorandum are clear.
He stressed that "Washington, by breaching its commitments, has prevented the establishment of stability in the region, and has created yet another reason for mistrust in it." The Iranian Parliament Speaker reiterated his rejection of the notion that Iran is affected by American pressure.
The Iranian agency reported that the Pakistani Army Chief affirmed during the meeting that he will continue his efforts to restore stability in the region. Earlier today, Iran's official news agency reported that the Pakistani Army Chief, accompanied by his country's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, arrived in the capital Tehran as part of diplomatic efforts to bring viewpoints closer and advance the dialogue process.
