Sanaa: Iran's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Irvani, protested the claims made by the US representative to the UN, rejecting them as baseless.
According to Yemen News Agency, in a letter addressed to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council on Tuesday evening, Irvani stated, "The US representative at the Security Council meeting on the situation in the Middle East, held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, under the agenda item 'Maintenance of International Peace and Security' (10194th meeting), once again deviated from the agenda and exploited the Security Council platform to disseminate misleading information, leveling a series of baseless and politically motivated allegations against the Islamic Republic of Iran."
He added: "The US representative made the same baseless allegations at the Security Council briefing on the situation in the Middle East (Yemen) held on July 13, 2026 (10193rd meeting), demonstrating a deliberate pattern of misinformation and exploitation of the Security Council mechanism for political purposes."
Iravani stated that the claim that Iran is transferring weapons to Yemen in violation of relevant Security Council resolutions is false and unfounded. This claim is not supported by any credible, verifiable, or independent evidence, and is yet another attempt to divert attention from the United States' illegal conduct and destabilizing actions in the region. He explained, "This is a fabricated accusation intended to mislead the Security Council and divert attention from the heinous crimes committed by the United States against the Iranian people," holding the United States primarily responsible for undermining peace and security in Yemen and the region as a whole.
He stated, "Through its aggressive actions against Yemen, the United States has obstructed the implementation of the ceasefire agreement signed in April 2022 and halted the UN-sponsored political process."
He added, "At the same time, by pressuring the Security Council to adopt Resolution 2722 (2024) for political reasons, and then exploiting its provisions as a pretext to attack Yemeni civilian infrastructure, the United States has violated Yemen's sovereignty and territorial integrity, exacerbated regional tensions, and undermined the prospects for a peaceful solution."
Irvani continued, "The claim that Ansar Allah is acting on behalf of Iran is baseless, as the authorities in Sana'a represent a large segment of the Yemeni people and make their decisions independently and in accordance with what they deem to be in the best interests of the Yemeni people." He stated that attempts to portray their actions as instigated by Iran are misleading, politically motivated, and baseless. Iran has consistently supported a peaceful and inclusive Yemeni-led political process under the auspices of the United Nations. He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran reaffirms its support for Yemen's sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, and unity, and its commitment to achieving a comprehensive and lasting peace through an inclusive Yemeni-led political dialogue.
He asserted that the United States' claim of adherence to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding is unfounded and lacks any evidence. On the contrary, since the signing of this memorandum, the United States has consistently refused to implement its commitments and has actively and deliberately worked to undermine its implementation.
The Iranian representative continued: In a letter dated July 13, 2026, addressed to the Secretary-General and the Security Council, the Islamic Republic of Iran documented 42 clear and serious violations of the memorandum. The Islamabad Agreement was reached with the United States government. These deliberate, premeditated, and ongoing violations have jeopardized regional stability, threatened international peace and security, and demonstrated the United States' blatant disregard for its obligations under international law.
"The deliberate attacks by the United States on civilians and civilian infrastructure constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity," he said.
He continued: "Not only has the United States failed to cease its illegal actions, but it has also continued its war of aggression against Iran through repeated military attacks in recent days; attacks that have seriously jeopardized international peace and security and undermined months of diplomatic and mediation efforts to end the war and restore stability to the region."
The Iranian ambassador added: "Moreover, by blatantly interfering in the implementation of necessary Iranian arrangements regarding the Strait of Hormuz, the United States has reintroduced instability to this strait and disrupted international commercial shipping."
He continued: "At the same time, by using the territories and facilities of countries on the southern shores of the Persian Gulf to prepare for its military aggression against Iran, the United States has turned these countries into pawns." "In effect, to the arena of its illegal and criminal war against the Iranian people."
Iravani said, "Therefore, the United States has no legal, political, or moral basis to level accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran or any of the other member states."
