Taiz: The Deputy Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Judge Ibrahim Al-Shami, inspected the conditions of male and female prisoners at the Central Correctional Facility in Taiz province and the remand prison at the correctional facility.
According to Yemen News Agency, during the visit, Al-Shami, along with Judge Fawaz Al-Maqtari, President of the Provincial Court of Appeals, Deputy Governor Hamid Ali Abdullah, and Hams Al-Habari, head of the social unit in the province, reviewed the level of health care and nutrition services provided to inmates and detainees in the reformatory.
The Deputy Minister of Justice and Human Rights emphasized that the visit to the judicial complex, the central correctional facility, and the reserve comes to inaugurate the work of the committee tasked with inspecting prisons and assessing the conditions of prisoners in the province.
He stated that the ministry’s leadership is making efforts to urge judges to expedite the adjudication of cases, especially those involving prisoners, as the holy month of Ramadan approaches.
Judge Al-Shami highlighted that after the merger of corrections and human rights into the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights is responsible for supervision and administration. He noted that the directives of the revolutionary leadership, the Supreme Political Council, and the program of the Government of Change and Construction emphasize the conditions of prisoners as a priority.
The Deputy Minister of Justice stressed that the Ministry’s leadership seeks to upgrade administrative performance in all its sectors to a better stage, and everyone must fulfill their responsibilities and duties.
