Launch of Awareness Campaign on Public Safety & Security Procedures in Capital City Schools

Sana'a: The Civil Defense Authority, in cooperation with the Education Sector in the Capital Secretariat, launched on Saturday an awareness campaign on safety and security procedures in public and private schools under the slogan 'Your Safety Matters.'

According to Yemen News Agency, during the launch at Kuwait Secondary School in Al-Wahda District, attended by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education Hadi Ammar, Major General Ibrahim Al-Muayyad, Head of the Civil Defense Authority, pointed out that the campaign aims to equip teachers and students with skills and knowledge in public safety, enabling them to respond effectively to emergency situations.

He explained that the Authority has assigned specialized training teams to implement the campaign programs in the targeted schools in the Capital Secretariat, noting that one of the key expected outcomes of the campaign is the formation of 'Civil Defense Friends' teams in each school.

Meanwhile, Abdulqader Al-Mahdi, Head of the Education Sector in the Capital Secretariat, praised the efforts of the Civil Defense Authority in raising awareness among students and teachers. He highlighted that this initiative reflects the commitment of the leadership of the Ministry of Interior and the Civil Defense Authority to strengthen the culture of public safety and security among all segments of society, and to form a core group of Civil Defense Friends, which has a significant impact on promoting this culture both inside and outside schools.

Colonel Khaled Al-Sharahi, Director of Relations and Media at the Civil Defense Authority, explained that the first phase of the campaign targets public and private schools in the Capital Secretariat to raise awareness of safety and security procedures among students and teachers. He noted that the campaign includes the distribution of instructional materials on preventive measures, fire protection and prevention, as well as guidance on dealing with drowning incidents and natural disasters.

Colonel Al-Sharahi confirmed that one of the campaign's goals is to establish Civil Defense Friends in more than 150 schools, alongside organizing awareness workshops for teachers in those schools. He added that over the past year, the Authority trained more than 3,600 teachers through a number of workshops on public safety and security.
