Sanaa: The Secretary-General of the Local Council of Ibb Governorate, Amin Al-Warafi, inaugurated on Thursday the comprehensive community cleanliness campaign for 2026. The launch of the field and administrative activities of the fund coincides with the celebration of Rajab Friday, reflecting the values held by the people of Yemen in giving, sacrifice, dedication, care for cleanliness, and the defense of the homeland and Islamic sanctities.
According to Yemen News Agency, the inauguration ceremony included the distribution of health insurance cards to all workers and employees of the fund and their families, as well as the distribution of new uniforms for sanitation workers, supervisors, and field monitors. During the launch, the Secretary-General of the Governorate emphasized that aligning the start of the new year's cleanliness efforts with the Rajab Friday celebration highlights the faith-based identity and reflects the pride of Yemenis in their Islamic heritage and their connection to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), his family, and Imam Ali (peace be upon him).
He explained that celebrating this religious occasion expresses gratitude to God for bringing the people of Yemen to Islam in large numbers through Imam Ali (peace be upon him), the messenger of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Al-Warafi noted that distributing health insurance cards and new uniforms to the fund's workers and employees is part of the mechanism to reform the fund's operations and continuously improve the conditions of sanitation workers.
He praised the efforts of sanitation workers in cleaning the streets, removing waste, and enhancing the urban appearance of Yemen's tourist capital, urging everyone to double their efforts to maintain the cleanliness of neighborhoods, streets, and alleys as an expression of their faith-based identity. Meanwhile, Adel Omar, Director of the Governorate's Fund for Cleanliness and Improvement, highlighted the importance of this occasion in reinforcing the faith-based identity and the honorable stance of Yemenis in supporting Islam, the Prophet, and in following his righteous path.
Omar appreciated the attention of the governorate's leadership in improving the conditions of sanitation workers, protecting them from diseases and epidemics, and strengthening the fund's ability to maintain cleanliness. He noted that the fund's plan for the new year aims to develop performance across administrative, financial, technical, and field aspects, as well as community awareness programs, stressing the commitment to implementing the local authority's directives to improve cleanliness, enhance performance, and overcome challenges.
For his part, Ahmed Al-Jundi, Head of the Sanitation and Environmental Health Sector, confirmed that launching the fund's field and administrative activities alongside Rajab Friday underscores the importance of cleanliness as a civilized behavior encouraged by Islam. He also outlined the strategy for developing the sanitation sector in the new year, which aims to expand cleanliness operations, activate the roles and responsibilities of the fund's affiliated areas and its branches in the districts.
Al-Jundi described the provision of health insurance as a qualitative achievement reflecting the local authority's interest in providing healthcare and social protection for the fund's workers, employees, and their families, noting that this positive step will contribute to maintaining cleanliness and ensuring the health and safety of sanitation workers.
