Al hodeidah: The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor launched on Wednesday in Al Hodeidah Governorate the first national campaign for awareness and guidance on occupational health and safety for industrial and commercial establishments, under the slogan: 'Together for Worker Safety, a Safe Work Environment, and Sustainable Productivity.'
According to Yemen News Agency, the campaign, organized with the participation of several relevant government entities, aims to reduce risks in industrial and production work environments by spreading awareness of occupational health and safety concepts and requirements. It also seeks to promote compliance with applicable laws and regulations, contributing to the protection of workers, minimizing workplace accidents and injuries, improving safety standards within establishments, and creating a safe work environment that supports continuous, high-quality production.
At the launch, the Ministry's Undersecretary for Labor Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Haidar, emphasized that the campaign seeks to raise awareness of occupational health and safety laws and regulations and to enhance adherence to safety standards and requirements in industrial and production facilities. He highlighted the importance of providing a safe work environment to reduce occupational injuries and illnesses, improve overall organizational performance, and enhance the quality of national products through proper implementation of occupational health and safety standards. He stressed that compliance with these standards is a shared interest between employers and workers, ensuring both safe and sustainable production.
Dr. Haidar also confirmed the Ministry's readiness to provide technical and advisory support in the field of occupational health and safety, contributing to the creation of a safe economic work environment and sustainable productivity. He pointed to the importance of coordinated efforts and strengthened partnerships between official bodies, the private sector, alongside intensified awareness programs, targeted inspections of industrial and production facilities, in support of the state's vision for a safe and sustainable national economy.
For his part, Saleh Atifah, Director of the Governorate's Office of Economy, Industry, and Investment, described the campaign as an important step to enhance compliance with occupational health and safety requirements in industrial facilities. He noted that field teams will provide awareness guidance and promote adherence to preventive and safety measures, contributing to worker protection and risk reduction in the workplace.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Al-Hattami, Director of the Governorate's Chamber of Commerce and Industry, affirmed the chamber's commitment to strengthening partnership with government bodies and supporting the implementation of occupational health and safety campaigns, which preserves the safety of establishments and workers, ensures production continuity, and improves work quality-positively impacting the work environment and economic development.
Subsequently, the Undersecretary of the Ministry, accompanied by Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sayegh, Director-General of the Governorate's Social Affairs and Labor Office, along with general directors and experts, launched the field awareness program in several industrial establishments in the governorate as part of the activities of the first national campaign.
