Launch of Soybean Seed Multiplication Project in Bajil District, Al-Hodeidah

Bajil: The General Corporation for Grain Development and Production launched a Soybean Seed Multiplication Project in Bajil District, Al-Hodeidah Governorate, under the slogan 'Together Toward Achieving Self-Sufficiency in Soybean Production.' The project is implemented under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, in coordination with the local authority in the governorate.

According to Yemen News Agency, the project is carried out in cooperation with the Bajil Multipurpose Agricultural Cooperative Association, and in coordination with the local authority and the Mobilization Office in the district, the Agricultural Cooperative Union, the Bonyan Development Foundation, and the Central Agricultural Zone of the Tihama Development Authority.

The initiative involves the distribution of 800 bags of soybean seeds for cultivation across an area of 1,000 hectares, benefiting 300 farmers in Bajil District. The aim is to expand the cultivated area of soybean crops and increase domestic production of improved seeds.

During the launch, Engineer Samir Al-Hanani, Advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, emphasized the project's importance in strengthening food security and achieving self-sufficiency in strategic crops, noting that soybean is a promising crop with high economic value.

For his part, Engineer Salah Al-Mashriqi, Director of the General Corporation for Grain Development and Production, stated that the project represents a practical step toward expanding the base of local production of improved seeds and supporting farmers in achieving sustainable production aligned with the state's strategy for food security.
