Sana'a: The Local Authority and Services Committee of the Shura Council held a meeting today, chaired by the Council's Speaker, Mohammed Al-Aidaroos, to review and evaluate the overall performance and tasks assigned to the committee during the past period.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting began with a recitation of Al-Fatiha in memory of the late former Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, Council Member Mohsen Mohammed Al-Alfi, who passed away after a life dedicated to serving his country in various political and parliamentary fields.
The meeting, which included the Committee Chairman, Abdullah Majidi, and members, reviewed the Committee's activity report for the year 1447 AH, highlighting its most significant achievements in addressing local authority and public services issues, as well as the challenges encountered and the solutions adopted to strengthen the Council's oversight and advisory role.
The attendees also discussed the draft of the Committee's plan for the upcoming year, 1448 AH, including its focus areas related to its activities in the coming period and enhancing coordination with relevant government entities to improve the efficiency of local performance. At the meeting, the Council Chairman commended the efforts of the Chairman and members of the Committee in carrying out their assigned tasks. He emphasized the importance of finding appropriate solutions and remedies in coordination with government agencies, in a manner that aligns with current realities and contributes to the advancement of service sectors, ultimately benefiting citizens in various fields.
He also noted the active participation of Committee members in various community activities and initiatives during the past period and urged them to continue their positive engagement and expand community participation to strengthen social cohesion and serve the community under the current circumstances.
For his part, the Committee Chairman reviewed the report's contents, which included field activities implemented during the past period, as well as the plan for the year 1448 AH. He affirmed the Committee's commitment to submitting appropriate proposals in its reports to enhance the role of local authorities in addressing community needs and improving services.
The meeting was enriched by discussions that underscored the importance of concerted efforts and positive interaction from government agencies to develop visions that contribute to supporting local authorities in the governorates and advancing their service and development capabilities.
