Al hodeidah: A team comprising local leaders from Hajjah and Raymah governorates, along with advisors and media professionals from Dhamar governorate, completed a field visit to Al Hodeidah. The purpose of the visit was to review pioneering developmental models implemented by agricultural cooperative associations in the fields of plant and animal production and marketing.
According to Yemen News Agency, this initiative is part of a program conducted by the Agricultural Cooperative Union in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources and the General Authority for Tihama Development. The program focuses on exchanging experiences in value chains, livestock production, and marketing as part of a comprehensive field training strategy to share successful models across governorates.
The visiting team, accompanied by the Secretary-General of the Agricultural Cooperative Union, Engineer Muhammad Al-Qahoum, toured various associations, including Al-Mansouriyah, As Sukhnah, Bajil, Al-Durayhimi, and Al-Marawiah. They explored the activities within these associations and learned about the dairy sector's operations, highlighting the strategic partnership between cooperative and private sectors.
Additionally, the team examined the central market at Kilo 18 in Al-Marawiah district, emphasizing its role in organizing marketing operations and providing logistical and financial services to farmers. The visit also included an assessment of the "soybean" crop cultivation in the Al-Turba area of Bajil district, spanning over two thousand feddans, as part of efforts to achieve food security.
The delegation received a presentation from the Tihama Coast Association management on economic and service empowerment projects for fishermen and infrastructure development efforts in the fisheries sector.
The visitors stressed the significance of replicating Al Hodeidah's cooperative management and resource development model in other regions. They highlighted that the integration among associations serves as a crucial foundation for advancing the agricultural sector and bolstering self-sufficiency amid current economic challenges.
