Sana'a: Capital Sana'a mayor Dr. Hammoud Ubad and Capital Undersecretary Khaled al-Madani inaugurated on Wednesday the distribution of relief and shelter aid, as well as cash assistance, to displaced and affected families in Maeen district.
According to Yemen News Agency, the aid targeted 77 displaced families, in addition to a number of those affected by the fire that broke out in a displaced persons camp in the al-Qubba neighborhood of Maeen district. The aid included cash, food supplies, mattresses, blankets, tents, kitchen utensils, and hygiene kits.
The distribution of aid comes in coordination with the Emergency Operations Room and humanitarian organizations in Sana'a, and with support from the offices of the General Authority for Zakat, the Ministry of Social Affairs, and the Yemeni Red Crescent, as part of the urgent response to meet the needs of displaced and affected families.
Ubad and al-Madani explained that the aid comes as part of emergency interventions to provide relief to displaced persons and those affected in Maeen district, and to alleviate their suffering, in cooperation with relevant offices and humanitarian partners.
They praised the efforts of the Zakat and Social Affairs offices, the Yemeni Red Crescent, and all partners for their swift delivery of emergency aid to affected and displaced families. They noted the continued suffering of displaced persons due to the repercussions of the aggression and blockade against the Yemeni people.
Ubad and al-Madani emphasized their commitment to strengthening and coordinating efforts to distribute aid to displaced families. They called on humanitarian and relevant organizations to support efforts to provide essential needs for displaced persons and those affected in Maeen district.
Furthermore, the Mayor of Sana'a, accompanied by the Head of the Emergency Operations Room at the Capital, Dr. Abdulwahab Sharaf al-Din, and the Director of Maeen District, Abdulmalik al-Radhi, inspected the progress of debris removal, cleaning, and preparation work at the displaced persons' gathering point in the al-Qubba neighborhood of Maeen district.
