The Deputy Prime Minister for Services and Development Affairs, Dr. Hussein Maqbouli, discussed today,Monday, with the Agriculture Minister and Irrigation, Eng. Abdulmalik Al-Thawr, the mechanism and interventions of the Agriculture Ministry in the field of food security.

The meeting touched on the activities carried out by the ministry through its affiliated agricultural departments, bodies and institutions, as well as the difficulties and challenges facing agricultural development in general.

For his part, Al-Thawr referred to the ministry's activities and programs for the advancement of the agricultural sector, which include maintenance of irrigation canals , diversionary barriers in Tihama ,in other areas with community participation and contribution.

He pointed to the ministry's interventions aimed at expanding grain cultivation in Tihama and the province of Al-Jawf, as well as activating nurseries to produce seedlings and switching from using imported potato seeds to tissue-produced seeds, in addition to agricultural research work that represents the basis of the agricultural renaissance.
