Sana'a: Mawlid celebrations held in Maeen District on Thursday showcased a vibrant cultural evening to honor the birthday of Prophet Mohammed. Residents from neighborhoods such as Al-Jawiya Al-Gharbiya, Al-Ansar, Al-Amin, Al-Jawba, Al-Wahda, Muadh bin Jabal, Al-Mada'in, Imam Ali, and Al-Shawkani Al-Gharbiya organized the events.
According to Yemen News Agency, the evening's activities and speeches focused on the life of the Prophet, urging attendees to embody his values, ethics, and principles. Themes of compassion, brotherhood, solidarity, and benevolence were central to the celebrations.
The events witnessed significant participation from both officials and the general public. Key attendees included Assistant Deputy Mayor Sami Sharaf Al-Din, members of the Yemen Scholars Association such as Sheikh Saleh Al-Khawlani and Sheikh Ali Al-Mutri, Dr. Majdi Azzam from the Islamic Jihad Movement in Yemen, and Sharaf Al-Warith, the Director of Capital Municipality Neighborhood Affairs. Also present were members of African communities, mobilization officials, cultural activists, sheikhs, neighborhood leaders, and social figures.
Speakers at the event commended the extensive popular engagement, emphasizing that such occasions fortify social bonds, uphold Islamic values, and reaffirm dedication to the Prophet's life and teachings. They encouraged public participation in the main celebration at Al-Sabeen Square on Rabi' Al-Awwal 12, to pay tribute to the Prophet Mohammed and acknowledge his revered place in the community.
