Ibb: Today, the Maytam Customs Center in Ibb Governorate destroyed five tons of smuggled, prohibited, and expired goods and medicines.
According to Yemen News Agency, the destruction process was executed in the presence of a committee formed by the Customs Authority's headquarters. The committee was headed by the Director General of Sales and Warehouses, Mohammed Aziz, and oversaw the destruction of prohibited items such as cigarettes and electronic shisha devices.
The Director of Maytam Customs Center, Abdu Al-Kahali, clarified that the destruction was conducted in compliance with the legal procedures for handling expired, prohibited, smuggled, and rejected goods. Representatives from the Standards and Metrology Authority, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Violations Prosecution Office, the Supreme Authority for Medicines, the Anti-Smuggling Unit, and the security and intelligence services were present to witness the process.
Al-Kahali stressed that Customs acts as the first line of defense in detecting and destroying smuggled, expired, substandard, and unauthorized goods.
