Mechanism for Regulating Bakeries and Ovens in Ibb Discussed

Sana'a: A meeting in Ibb governorate, chaired by Governor Abdulwahid Salah, focused on establishing a mechanism for regulating bakeries and ovens. The discussion centered around ensuring compliance with pricing, loaf weight, and health requirements.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting included the Director of the Governorate's Economy and Industry Office, Hussein Sharif, along with bakery and oven owners. They addressed challenges faced by the office and explored ways to enhance administrative and oversight services. A report was reviewed detailing a field inspection campaign aimed at enforcing the decision to sell bread by the kilogram. This campaign uncovered 30 food supply violations, including five by bakery and oven owners specifically related to weight and pricing.

Governor Salah emphasized the importance of ongoing inspection campaigns to maintain price and supply stability. He highlighted the significance of controlling bakeries and ovens that do not adhere to the pricing and weight standards set by the Ministry of Economy and Industry, thus safeguarding consumers from deceptive practices. He commended the Economy Office for its role in supervising goods and ensuring compliance with health standards.

Governor Salah reaffirmed the leadership's commitment to overcoming obstacles hindering the office's operations, especially those concerning field monitoring and violation detection.
