Meeting in Al-Hodeidah Focuses on Supporting Local Fabric and Cotton Clothing Industry

Al-hodeidah: A meeting at the Chamber of Commerce in Al-Hodeidah Governorate was held to discuss mechanisms for supporting the local fabric industry, marketing cotton clothing, and enhancing the role of merchants in promoting national products. The meeting, which took place on Tuesday, emphasized the importance of the local fabric industry as a key contributor to the national economy and a source of employment.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting was attended by key figures including the Directors of the Office of Economy, Industry, and Investment, Saleh Atifah, Chamber of Commerce representative Mohammed Al-Hattami, the Director of the Textile Union, and a number of fabric traders in the governorate. The discussions centered around developing the cotton fabric industry and other national products to reduce unemployment and bolster economic growth.

The Director of the Economy Office stressed that supporting the local fabric industry is a priority in the state's policies. The office plans to remove obstacles facing traders and producers by coordinating with the Chamber of Commerce and the Textile Union. This initiative aims to improve local product quality and enhance its market competitiveness, with a call for unified efforts to ensure success.

The Director of the Textile Union also underscored the project's potential in alleviating unemployment, reinforcing the significance of developing the cotton fabric industry and promoting other national products.

The meeting concluded with several recommendations, including requiring tourist hotels to distribute traditional clothing as promotional gifts and enabling productive families and cooperative associations to market clothing through organized channels. The meeting also proposed awareness campaigns to educate the community about supporting national industries and the introduction of a unified trademark for locally manufactured traditional clothing.

Following the meeting, the Directors of the Economy Office and the Chamber of Commerce, along with several attendees, visited the Textile Union factory to review production lines and clothing samples, commending the efforts to advance this vital industry.
