Meeting in Hodeida Reviews Antiquities Authority’s Work Plan for 1447 AH

Hodeida: A meeting in Hodeida governorate, chaired by governor Abdullah Atifi, on Monday discussed the General Authority for Antiquities' work plan for the year 1447 AH, with a focus on archaeological surveys, preservation, and heritage promotion.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, attended by local officials, academics, and tourism representatives, reviewed the implementation of a comprehensive archaeological survey of the governorate's sites by specialized teams, as well as the creation of a scientific database documenting discoveries and literature.

Participants emphasized the need for urgent restoration of vulnerable sites, developing a vision for preservation, and protecting cultural landmarks from deterioration or vandalism.

Governor Atifi reaffirmed the local authority's commitment to supporting the Antiquities Authority in safeguarding Hodeida's archaeological and cultural heritage, stressing that such sites belong to successive generations and require joint official and community efforts.

The meeting approved measures to boost cultural and heritage tourism, raise public awareness, and strengthen Hodeida's presence in academic research, with local experts playing a key role in implementation.
