Sana'a: A meeting held in Sana'a today, which included the Deputy Minister of Information, Dr. Omar Al-Bakhiti, and the Head of the Civil Status and Civil Registry Authority, Brigadier General Hussein Aziz, discussed the mechanism for joint cooperation and coordination to implement a national media campaign on the importance of obtaining official documents and vital records.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, attended by the Ministry of Information Advisor Yahya Humaid and several Civil Status Authority leaders, reviewed the Civil Status Services Guide and the importance of utilizing the three-month grace period granted by the Authority for citizens to obtain electronic national identity cards. The meeting also emphasized the need for coordination with relevant government agencies to ensure that no transactions are accepted without these identification cards.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Information affirmed the Ministry's and all media institutions' commitment to supporting the Civil Status Authority's efforts by developing an awareness campaign to reinforce public understanding of the necessity of obtaining identification documents and updating vital data. He indicated that official and national media outlets would dedicate all their resources and available channels to ensure the campaign's success and to keep pace with the specified grace period. This would be achieved by broadcasting and disseminating informational, educational, and guidance materials that facilitate citizens' access to the Authority's services and highlight their importance in protecting their rights and streamlining their daily transactions across various institutions.
For his part, the Head of the Civil Status Authority commended the Ministry of Information's cooperation and the vital role of media institutions in supporting the Authority's work. He explained that the awareness campaign relies on an active partnership to highlight the services and benefits offered by the department regarding official documents and vital records. He clarified that the three-month grace period aims to give citizens the opportunity to rectify their situations and obtain official documents before the implementation of strict procedures and regulations with government agencies.
Brigadier General Aziz urged citizens to visit the department's centers and take advantage of the grace period to facilitate their future transactions.
The meeting, attended by a number of officials and stakeholders from the ministry and the department, concluded with several recommendations, most notably the formation of a joint committee to develop a national media plan for implementing the campaign in phased stages.
