Sana'a: A meeting was held today in Sana'a, chaired by Acting Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, Ammar Al-Karim, and attended by Deputy Head of the General Authority for the Care of Martyrs' Families, Saleh Hamza, to discuss the mechanism for marketing and selling local wheat to the General Authority for the Care of Martyrs' Families.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting included Deputy Minister of Agriculture for the Services and Support Sector, Murad Al-Shayef, Head of the General Authority for Water Resources and Facilities, Engineer Hadi Qari'ah, Head of the Agricultural Cooperative Union, Mubarak Al-Qaili, and Executive Director of the General Corporation for Grain Development and Production, Engineer Salah Al-Mashraqi. It approved the purchase of quantities of locally produced wheat from farmers on behalf of the Authority, contributing to the establishment of stable marketing channels and encouraging the expansion of grain cultivation.
The Acting Minister of Agriculture affirmed that the expansion of local grain cultivation aligns with government directions to support local products and enhance reliance on domestic agricultural crops. He noted that purchasing local wheat provides direct support for Yemeni farmers, contributing to enhanced food security. The ministry is working to establish permanent marketing outlets for agricultural products that ensure a profitable return and stimulate increased production.
Minister Al-Karim praised the initiative by the Martyrs' Families Care Authority as a model of partnership and integration between state institutions. Deputy Head of the General Authority for the Care of Martyrs' Families affirmed the Authority's commitment to prioritizing local products and meeting its needs from national crops, thereby strengthening the culture of self-reliance and supporting the national economy.
Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the Grain Development and Production Corporation explained that the Corporation continues to open new marketing channels for farmers to sell their grain crops, emphasizing the importance of strengthening partnerships with various official bodies to provide an encouraging environment for agricultural production.
