Sana'a: The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning has forecast the continued occurrence of scattered thunderstorms of varying intensity over a number of governorates during the next 24 hours.
According to Yemen News Agency, the weather bulletin issued by the center predicts thunderstorms of varying intensity accompanied by hail and, at times, strong downdraft winds over parts of the deserts and highlands of Shabwah and Hadramout, as well as the governorates of Al Bayda, Al Dhalea, the highlands of Abyan and Lahj, Taiz, Ibb, Dhamar, Raymah, Sana'a, Al Mahwit, and western Saada.
Scattered rainfall accompanied at times by thunder is also likely over parts of the governorates of Amran, Hajjah, Al Jawf, Marib, and Al Mahrah. The forecast includes parts of the Tihama Plain and the western and southern coasts.
The center has issued warnings to citizens about the sudden flow of flash floods in ravines and valleys, advising against being in their paths or attempting to cross them during and after rainfall.
Warnings have also been issued about the dangers posed by thunderstorms, hail, and strong downdraft winds, with advice to avoid elevated areas, towers, tall trees, and the use of mobile phones during such conditions.
Concerns have been raised about potential rockfalls and mudslides, particularly on slopes and mountain roads, along with the risk of collapse of traditional mud buildings and forts due to the ongoing rainfall.
The center has urged relevant authorities to implement measures to safeguard lives and property.
