Sana'a: The National Centre for Meteorology and Early Warning has predicted continued rainfall and hot weather over the next 24 hours.
According to Yemen News Agency, the weather bulletin issued by the centre indicates that sporadic rains accompanied by thunder are expected in parts of Lahj, Taiz, Ibb, Dalea, Rima, and the Socotra archipelago governorates.
Sporadic rain is also possible in parts of the highlands of Dhalea, Lahj, Abyan, Shabwa, the eastern and southern coasts, the coast of Taiz, and adjacent interior areas. The centre highlighted that the weather may become hot and dry in the deserts and coastal plains, with maximum temperatures ranging between 37 and 43 degrees Celsius.
The report noted that the amount of rain measured at meteorological stations in Socotra was 2.8 mm and in Taiz was 0.6 mm over the past 24 hours. Additionally, light to moderate rain fell outside the range of the stations in parts of Socotra, Lahj, Ibb, and the eastern coasts.
The centre warned citizens to avoid being in torrential streams and valley bottoms or crossing them during and after the rains, advising them to seek shelter from thunderstorms. Furthermore, it cautioned citizens in deserts and coastal plains about the hot and dry weather, recommending against direct exposure to sunlight during the afternoon and encouraging the intake of plenty of fluids.
