Meteorology Warns of Thundery Rainfall Across Governorates

Sana'a: The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning anticipates scattered thunderstorms of varying intensity over several governorates within the next 24 hours. According to Yemen News Agency, the Center's weather bulletin indicates that thunderstorms, possibly accompanied by hail, are expected to affect the governorates of Lahj, Al-Dhalea, Taiz, Ibb, Raymah, Al-Mahwit, and Hajjah, along with parts of the Tihama Plain and the western coast. There is also a forecast for scattered rainfall, occasionally with thunder, over areas including Saada, Amran, Sana'a, Dhamar, and the highlands of Abyan, Al-Bayda, Shabwah, and Hadramout. The Center has issued warnings to citizens about the potential for sudden floods in ravines and valleys during and after rainfall. It advises against crossing ground-level bridges during floods and cautions drivers to be aware of reduced horizontal visibility on roads and mountain slopes caused by rain and fog. Additional advice includes avoiding elevated areas, staying away from metal structures and tall trees, refraining from using mobile phones during thunderstorms, and ensuring that electricity supplies are disconnected as a precaution. The Center has urged relevant authorities to implement measures to protect lives and property amidst these weather conditions.
