Mine Center Destroys Remnants of Saudi-American Aggression in Hodeida

Hodeida: The Executive Mine Action Center, in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), conducted a field campaign on Wednesday to eliminate remnants of the Saudi-American aggression in Hodeida province. The campaign targeted 250 anti-vehicle mines and 50 anti-personnel mines in the Mandhar area. Present at the event were the ICRC's Regional Director for the Near and Middle East, Nicholas von Arx; Brigadier General Ali Safra, the Executive Director of the Executive Mine Action Center; Christine Shibola, the Head of the ICRC delegation in Yemen; Makram Sowa, the Head of the ICRC sub-delegation in Hodeida; Jaber al-Razihi, the Director of the Yemeni Red Crescent branch; and Colonel Yahya Sabr, the Director of the Center's branch in the governorate.

According to Yemen News Agency, the team inspected the field teams' efforts in al-Hali district, including al-Dhubyani neighborhood, Sana'a Street, and al-Khamsin Street. In al-Hawak district, the team examined several sites such as the College of Medicine, coastal areas west of Hodeida University, al-Manassa, and Mandhar City. Additionally, the team surveyed al-Mina district, particularly al-Katheeb coast and Suhail neighborhood.

Field team officials reported that these areas have been cleared of minefields and remnants of aggression. The officials confirmed that work also included the small roundabout, the College of Medicine, and the western side of Hodeida University, extending to the parade platform.

The head of the ICRC delegation commended the national teams' efforts in the field and affirmed the ICRC's ongoing support for the Executive Center for Mine Action. This support includes strengthening the center's technical and logistical capabilities, contributing to civilian protection and mitigating the impact of these remnants.
