Sana'a: Minister of Transport and Public Works, Mohammed Qahim, inaugurated the Medical Center for Workers and Seamen at Hodeida Port today, following the completion of its rehabilitation and maintenance and equipping it with new medical devices, equipment, and supplies. The inauguration coincided with the celebration of the Prophet's birthday.
According to Yemen News Agency, during the inauguration, which was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry for the Transport Sector, Alawi Al-Houthi, the Chairman of the Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation, Zaid Al-Washli, and the Deputy Chairman of the Corporation, Nasr Al-Nusairi, Minister Qahim inspected the level of equipment and medical services provided by the center to port workers and seamen.
They received a briefing on the rehabilitation, maintenance, and repair work carried out at the center, and the medical devices and supplies provided, which enhance its capacity to provide emergency medical services and urgent medical care to workers and seamen. The Minister of Transport emphasized the importance of developing medical and ambulance services at ports and improving the level of healthcare provided to workers and ship crews, thereby contributing to enhanced occupational safety and a better working environment at the port.
He also highlighted the importance of partnerships with shipping companies, considering them essential partners in the development process, and the need to strengthen cooperation to serve maritime activity and elevate the level of services provided at ports.
For his part, the Chairman of the Ports Authority explained that the rehabilitation and equipping of the medical ambulance center is part of the Authority's efforts to develop the facilities at Hodeida Port, improve services provided to workers and crews, and enhance medical and ambulance preparedness in the work environment.
He affirmed that the center's rehabilitation and equipping reflects the Authority's commitment to providing safety and healthcare for workers and ship crews, and improving support services for maritime activity to meet the port's operational needs.
Al-Washli noted that the Authority is working to develop the level of services provided at Hodeida Port and strengthen partnerships with shipping companies to support maritime activity and contribute to the development process.
