Taiz:The Ministry of Economy, Industry and Investment has condemned the recent Saudi airstrike on the Al-Qudsi Plastic Footwear Factory located in the Al-Rubai'i area of Taiz province. The attack resulted in the deaths of three workers, injuries to seven others, and significant fires that destroyed the factory's equipment, forcing it to cease operations.
According to Yemen News Agency, the ministry's statement highlighted that the factory had only recently resumed production after a prolonged period of disruption caused by ongoing aggression and blockades. The ministry described the attack as a blow to the national economy, threatening jobs, livelihoods, and efforts towards economic recovery.
The ministry expressed concern that persistent attacks on industrial and commercial facilities are exacerbating the economic conflict, disrupting production, and worsening the humanitarian and living conditions for Yemenis. It attributed full responsibility for the casualties and economic losses to the Saudi forces, emphasizing that such targeting of civilian economic facilities is a violation of international humanitarian law, necessitating accountability and compensation for those affected.
The ministry reaffirmed its dedication to documenting the damages, safeguarding investors' rights, and seeking legal accountability and compensation. It also urged the international community and relevant organizations to take action to address these attacks on civilian economic facilities and the essential sources of livelihood for the people.
