Sana'a: The National Human Rights Commission condemned, in the strongest terms, the treacherous American aggression that targeted a safe residential area and a civilian wedding ceremony this evening in Bandar Kuhstak, Hormozgan Province, in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Commission pointed out that this crime, which resulted in the initial toll of two martyrs and twenty injured innocent civilians, including women and children, constitutes a fully-fledged war crime and a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the four Geneva Conventions, which criminalize the targeting of civilian objects and safe residential gatherings.
The statement held the US administration fully legally responsible for the bloodshed and the terrorizing of innocent people, calling for an independent and immediate international investigation into this crime and for holding the perpetrators accountable before international courts, as it is a crime against humanity and a war crime that does not prescribe.
The Commission also affirmed the right of peoples to defend themselves, their sovereignty, and their security, and rejected any justification for this systematic targeting of civilians under any pretext. It called on international organizations, the United Nations, and the Human Rights Council to assume their responsibilities, stop the policy of double standards, and issue a clear position to condemn this aggression and deter its recurrence.
The Commission stated that the blood of the innocent in Bandar Kuhstak will not be shed in vain, and will remain a curse upon the forehead of everyone who participated in, justified, or remained silent about this aggression.
