Dhamar: The National Judo Championship began on Saturday in Dhamar, organized by the General Judo Federation from 5-7 December with support from the Youth and Sports Care Fund. Thirty-five athletes from Dhamar, Lahj, Aden, Al-Mahwit, Hodeidah, and Taiz are competing in two categories: Juniors under 14 (28, 32, 36 kg) and Youth under 17 (46, 50 kg).
According to Yemen News Agency, preliminary rounds saw multiple victories across the weight classes, with finalists emerging in each category. In juniors, Adham Haza'a from Lahj and Saddam Hussein Al-Jarrah from Dhamar reached the 28 kg final. Ibrahim Al-Alawi from Dhamar and Mushtaq Salem from Aden advanced in the 32 kg category. Ubaidah Al-Jarrah from Dhamar will face Mohammed Adel from Lahj in the 36 kg final.
In the youth category, Taha Al-Bareed from Hodeidah and Hamzah Mustafa from Lahj reached the 46 kg final. Mohammed Bareed from Hodeidah will meet Haidarah Sabri from Lahj in the 50 kg final. The championship concludes tomorrow with the final matches. The opening was attended by local officials and sports federation representatives.
