Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader Omar Abdullah took the oath of office as the Chief Minister of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha administered the oath to Omar Abdullah at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre in Srinagar early Wednesday. In the recent Assembly Elections held after almost a decade's gap, the National Conference of Omar Abdullah won 42 out of 90 seats, while its alliance Indian National Congress secured six seats. The three phase elections held after the abrogation of Article 370 of Indian Constitution that granted limited self rule to the state started on September 18, ended on October 1st and the results were announced on October 8. Other political parties including Communist Party of India, Aam Aadmi Party, and independent candidates have confirmed their support for Omar Abdullah-led government. Source: Kuwait News Agency
