Al-jawf: The “Nidaa Al-Karama” Center for Human Rights and Development condemned, in the strongest terms, the heinous crime committed by the Saudi enemy in targeting the Al-Hazm Correctional Facility in Al-Jawf Governorate, in a flagrant violation of the right to life and international humanitarian law.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Center pointed out that the Saudi enemy’s targeting of the correctional facility resulted in the martyrdom and injury of 14 inmates in an initial non-final toll, including a child and a woman who were visiting their relatives.
The Center considered the Saudi enemy’s targeting of a civilian facility, which enjoys special protection for the persons within it and has no relation to military objectives, to be a serious crime and a grave violation of the principle of distinction under the rules of international humanitarian law.
The statement noted that this crime is part of a series of thousands of crimes committed by the Saudi enemy against civilian objects and facilities over 12 years of aggression on Yemen, including homes, markets, hospitals, schools, detention facilities, and others, reflecting a clear political and military will on the part of the Saudi enemy to target civilians in a recurring pattern.
It affirmed that the Saudi enemy’s crimes amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity, noting that the silence and complicity of the United Nations and international organizations with the Saudi enemy over the past years have encouraged it to commit more of these crimes and violations, making them primary partners in them, while simultaneously revealing the falsehood of their slogans about defending human rights.
