On This Day: A Chronicle of US-Saudi-Emirati Aggression in Yemen

Sana’a: On this day, March 9, across various years, numerous civilians, including children, women, and African migrants, were either killed or injured due to air and ground attacks launched by the US-Saudi-Emirati coalition on Yemeni governorates.

According to Yemen News Agency, on March 9, 2016, three citizens died and another was injured following an air raid on a car in Al-Humaidat District in Jawf Governorate. The aggression’s aircraft also targeted Al-Ghail and Barat Al-Anan Districts. In Shabwa Governorate, Yahya Al-Za’bali was killed and Muhammad Mohsen Firas was injured as a result of a raid on a car. Multiple raids in Sana’a, Marib, and other governorates led to significant damage to homes, agricultural lands, and livestock.

March 9, 2017, witnessed further devastation as a woman and two children were killed while another child was injured in an air raid on a house in Haradh District, Hajjah Governorate. Raids in various districts caused extensive damage to properties, while cluster bombs were used in several attacks. The day also saw Saudi missile shelling in border areas, targeting homes and farms.

On March 9, 2018, three citizens were killed by air force raids targeting a farm in Sirwah District, Marib Governorate. In Sa’ada Governorate, a woman was killed, and another injured due to artillery shelling. Extensive bombardment across various districts caused severe damage to property, and several air raids were reported, targeting homes and farms.

March 9, 2019, saw the targeting of displaced persons in Kushar District, Hajjah Governorate, with the aggression launching numerous air raids across various districts, causing further destruction. In Hodeida Governorate, mercenaries shelled hospitals, hotels, and residential neighborhoods, leading to significant property damage.

On March 9, 2020, injuries were reported in Hodeida Governorate due to mercenary fire, and they shelled several areas with mortars and rockets. Air raids targeted multiple districts, causing extensive damage to homes, farms, and public property.

By March 9, 2021, the aggression’s aircraft had launched a series of raids on residential neighborhoods and districts, resulting in significant damage and civilian distress. Mercenaries continued shelling camps for the displaced, leading to property damage and livestock deaths.

On March 9, 2022, Saudi artillery shelling in Sa’ada Governorate resulted in civilian and African immigrant casualties. Air raids across several districts caused further havoc, while mercenaries targeted areas in Hodeida with artillery and ammunition, establishing fortifications.

Most recently, on March 9, 2023, four citizens were injured by Saudi army fire in Sa’ada Governorate. In Hodeida Governorate, mercenaries fortified positions and shelled multiple areas, adding to the day’s violence and destruction.
