Sana'a: Hamoud Al-Naqeeb, Head of the Social Affairs Committee at the Capital Secretariat's Local Council, along with Dr. Mutahar Al-Muruni, Director of the Health Office, inaugurated today the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for surgical cases at Al-Sabeen Hospital for Maternity and Childhood, on the occasion of the Prophet's Birthday anniversary (1447 AH).
According to Yemen News Agency, Al-Naqeeb and Al-Muruni inspected the level of rehabilitation and equipment in the new ward and listened to an explanation from the hospital's director, Dr. Majda Al-Khatib, regarding the facilities provided with support and cooperation from the private sector. These include 25 incubators to receive both medical and surgical neonatal cases, eight ventilators, 20 patient monitors, 40 infusion pumps, in addition to a modern anesthesia machine for major surgeries and a newborn hearing screening device.
Dr. Al-Khatib affirmed that Al-Sabeen Hospital will, in the coming period, be able to receive surgical cases of newborns both from within the hospital and from outside Sana'a.
During the opening, Al-Naqeeb praised the successive achievements witnessed at Al-Sabeen Hospital, including the inauguration of this new neonatal ICU, which coincides with the Yemeni people's celebration of the Prophet's Birthday. He commended the hospital's management and leadership for accomplishing this success through self-reliant efforts despite the difficult challenges, urging other hospitals and health centers to follow such successful models in raising the quality of healthcare services and alleviating people's suffering.
For his part, Dr. Al-Muruni stressed that this project represents a qualitative addition to Al-Sabeen Hospital's services and reflects the ongoing development achievements across its departments. He explained that the opening of the specialized neonatal ICU, along with the addition of modern medical equipment, will help meet community needs not only in the Capital Secretariat but also for patients referred from other governorates.
