Gaza: Palestinian journalists have been successful in conveying the reality of what Ismail Al-Thawabta, Director General of the Government Media Office in Gaza, described as an Israeli genocide, despite Israel's restrictions on foreign media entering the region.
According to Yemen News Agency, Al-Thawabta highlighted the significant challenges faced by journalists since October 7, 2023, including the martyrdom of more than 257 journalists, injuries to over 420, and the arrests and torture of more than 50 journalists, with three still unaccounted for.
Al-Thawabta made these remarks on Palestinian Journalist Loyalty Day, paying tribute to the journalists who continue to report from the field under dire circumstances and those who sacrificed their lives in the pursuit of truth. He asserted that Israeli attacks intentionally target Palestinian media as a means to suppress the truth, yet the resilience of journalists in Gaza has seen them overcome these adversities. Through their efforts, they have shared critical images, videos, and stories that have brought the realities of Gaza to international attention.
Al-Thawabta also called on the global community and journalists' unions to take action against those responsible for these acts and demanded the immediate release of imprisoned journalists, as well as medical assistance for those injured.
