Sana'a: Speaker of Parliament Yahya al-Ra'i and his deputy Abdulsalam Hishoul held a meeting with Dr. Abdullah Binyan, head of the National Union of Associations of the Disabled, along with representatives from various disability organizations, to address issues concerning the rights of persons with disabilities. The discussions focused on reviewing the ongoing efforts by the union and associations to alleviate the difficulties faced by people with disabilities and improve their access to healthcare and essential services. Participants in the meeting underscored the necessity of enhancing support, particularly in light of current challenges.
According to Yemen News Agency, Al-Ra'i reiterated Parliament's dedication to safeguarding the legal and constitutional rights of persons with disabilities. He addressed the challenges faced by the Disabled Fund, highlighting that the fund, established under Law No. 2 of 2002, possesses an independent legal status. Al-Ra'i emphasized that any amendments to the fund must follow constitutional procedures, stressing the importance of maintaining the independence of specialized funds.
