PM Meets Minister of Agriculture to Discuss Strategic Crop Self-Sufficiency

Sana'a: Prime Minister Ahmad al-Rahawi met with Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources Dr. Radwan al-Rubai to review the ministry's activities and accomplishments for the second half of the year 1446 AH. The meeting focused on agriculture as part of the annual plan and its alignment with directives from the Leader regarding agricultural development and progress toward self-sufficiency in strategic crops, especially grains.

According to Yemen News Agency, the discussions also covered the ministry's plan for 1447 AH and the urgent needs to advance agricultural and fisheries programs in support of national food security. The Prime Minister affirmed the government's prioritization of the agriculture and fisheries sectors in its annual plans, praising recent achievements in boosting local production of previously imported goods such as legumes and the notable increase in grain production, particularly wheat.

The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of coordination between the Ministries of Agriculture and Economy to invest surplus production-especially fruits-through industrial processing.
