Sana'a: The Emergency Committee in Sana'a province, led by First Undersecretary Hamed Asem, convened to discuss preparations to mitigate flood damage during the ongoing rainy season. The meeting aimed to implement proactive measures to prevent property losses.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting saw the presence of Governorate Undersecretary for Services Sector Fares Al-Kahali, directors and representatives from various sectors including Civil Defense, the Cleaning and Improvement Fund, Public Works, Agriculture, and the Red Crescent. The focus was on reviewing priorities to address potential flash flood damage in valleys during this season.
The committee reviewed a matrix of needs for emergency operations, along with urgent actions to reduce potential losses and damages. Discussions included the roles of various offices in addressing potential damage, with an action plan for each office to be prepared and submitted for discussion and implementation.
Attendees emphasized the importance of inventorying district equipment and preparing resources for emergency readiness. The formation of emergency committees at the district level was approved, along with the requirement for local leaders to form community teams for rescue and relief efforts in case of disasters.
First Undersecretary Hamed Asem highlighted the need for interventions in flood channels and waterways, as well as maintaining drains and dams. He stressed that disaster response requires collective efforts to minimize property losses.
