Al-Saddah:The Public Electricity Corporation has inaugurated the public electricity service in the city of Al-Saddah, located in the Ibb governorate. This significant development was marked by the presence of Dr. Mishal Al-Rifi, the Director General of the Corporation, and Engineer Mohammed Al-Shaibani, the Deputy Director General for Distribution and Technical Inspection, who supervised the operation of the generating station and the connection of electricity to the city's transformers.
According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. Al-Rifi conducted a field visit with teams and engineers from the Yareem Electricity District and Al-Saddah branch to inspect the connection of electricity to residential and commercial properties through meters and distribution transformers within the city's neighborhoods.
Dr. Al-Rifi emphasized the importance of a stable and continuous electricity supply in alignment with technical regulations to activate the service while maintaining public resources and electricity assets. He stressed the necessity for the General Department of Secondary Cities to provide an additional standby generating unit for emergencies and to facilitate the maintenance of the current unit.
Furthermore, Dr. Al-Rifi highlighted the urgency of establishing a solar power system to supplement the generating units, aiming to create an economical energy mix and ensure residents receive electricity at the lowest possible cost. He discussed the Corporation's strategy to transition to renewable energy, which would become a practical reality across all electricity districts in the Republic's governorates.
Dr. Al-Rifi reiterated the swift measures planned for transitioning to renewable energy to enhance generating capacity, alleviate citizens' burdens, reduce electricity tariffs, and mitigate the effects of rising fuel prices. He urged relevant authorities to facilitate the connection of existing solar power plants to the national grid, which would help achieve the Corporation's objective of reducing electricity generation costs, aligning consumption tariffs with citizens' living standards, and protecting tariffs from fluctuations in petroleum product prices.
