Amran: The Public Prosecution in Amran Governorate released 180 prisoners from the Central Correctional Facility and the Reserve today as part of the celebrations marking the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.
According to Yemen News Agency, the release ceremony was attended by the Governor of Amran, Dr. Faisal Jaman, who commended the judiciary for its efforts in addressing prisoners’ cases and ensuring their legal rights. He emphasized the local authority’s commitment to supporting the judiciary’s independence and the implementation of its decisions to achieve justice.
The Head of the Appeal Prosecution of the Governorate, Judge Hadi Ayda, stated that the release was carried out following directives from the senior leadership. It included prisoners who had served three-quarters of their term, those under investigation released on bail, and insolvent prisoners whose financial dues were settled by the Zakat Authority and philanthropists.
Judge Ayda also urged businessmen to extend their support to the insolvent and acknowledged the role of the Zakat Authority in assisting needy prisoners within the Governor’s Bank.
